Akon’s Akoin project partnered with Roll, which is a blockchain platform that enables creators to develop their own branded digital currency that is unique to their online presence as we can see more in today’s altcoin news.
The product will initially be available to the users in Asia and the US and later will be expanded to the African market in 2021 according to the latest press release. Roll will use Akon’s Akoin network of connections to help the creators launch their own social money which they can later nurture and grow to develop their communities. Jon Karas, the president and co-founder of Akoin said:
“We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Roll, the industry leader in bringing creators all over the world into the revolutionary world of social money, this is a gamechanger in terms of creator empowerment and community building and activation through the power of blockchain and social money.”
Creators of Roll can mint the so-called social money to own, control, and coordinate the value they will create across the web. This will allow creators to build the dollar value of the community and give it back to their supporters. Akon and Akoin will use the brand to help turn the concept of social money into a global phenomenon. Global artists, creators, and thought leaders will be able to join Akon’s own Roll channel as the press release explained. Roll works with more than 260 creators and created more than a quarter billion dollars of market value using social money as Sid Kalla, the CTO of Roll said:
“It’s important to reach beyond the immediate crypto-native audience and start thinking deeply about how everyday people will really use and embrace Ethereum and other blockchain technology.”

Social Money on Roll created seven or eight-figure markets for digital communities which gave the users a stake in the success of the communities they helped to build. Akon’s experience of developing the Akon brand using his status as an artist is an example of how creators can develop and grow their social money by demonstrating the power of giving value to assets using blockchain technology. It also added that Akon’s own team of experts will be able to provide support for the creators who will sign up with Roll thus allowing them to benefit from their guidance and experience in creating a new form of social money.
